Pakistan’s request to be considered: Saudi prince
JEDDAH, June 10: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal has said that there is a strong political will in Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to strengthen their brotherly relations.
During a meeting with a Pakistani delegation led by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday, the prince reiterated the assurances given by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.
He said the kingdom appreciated the sovereignty and strength of Pakistan and would stand by it in difficult situations. He said: “As a partner in the war against terror we will play our role.”
The prince said the king was aware of the problems Pakistan was facing and he would positively consider Pakistan's request.
Asif Zardari thanked Prince Saud and King Abdullah for their generous hospitality.
The delegation included Minister for Commerce, Defence and Textile Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, NRB chairman Dr Asim and Ambassador Admiral (retd) Shahid Karimullah. Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Awadh Asseri also attended the meeting.
It may be mentioned that during the meeting with the king, a proposal to form a small group was approved for looking into problems of both the countries.—APP
