PPP will find a new president for Pakistan: Zardari
Lahore: Hinting that Pervez Musharraf's presidency could be in the last legs, Pakistan People’s Party chairman Asif Ali Zardari said his party would soon appoint Pakistan's next president and suggested it could be a party stalwart like Salman Taseer.
"The day is not far off when someone like Salman Taseer will be in the presidency. The PPP will soon appoint the next president," Zardari said addressing a gathering of workers of the ruling party at the Governor's House here on Monday night.
Zardari was referring to Taseer, a Pakistan People's Party veteran recently made Governor of Punjab province. He said the presidency would soon resound with slogans like "Jeay Bhutto" (Long live Bhutto).
Zardari's remarks on a future president came at a time when rival-turned ally Nawaz Sharif is hogging the limelight with his full-throttle demand for Musharraf's ouster.
