Ulema Action Committee announce to conduct classes on wreckage of Jamia Hafsa
ISLAMABAD, July 7: Lal Masjid Ulema Action Committee (UAC) has announced to conduct classes for girl students of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa on wreckage of Jamia Hafsa on day to day basis in line with the orders of Supreme Court.
This was announced by UAC spokesman Mufti Abdul Rehman, NWFP assembly member Mufti Kafayat Ullah, Lal Masjid Khateeb Maulana Abdul Ghaffar and Naib Khateeb Maulana Aamer Siddiqui while addressing a press conference here Monday.
They alleged agencies were behind Islamabad bomb blast, which was aimed at sabotaging Lal Masjid Shuhada Conference.
They demanded president Musharraf be impeached. Countrywide protests would be staged if Musharraf was ever given a safe passage, they declared. President Musharraf martyred innocent girl students and torched and desecrated the Holy Quran and he did not deserve for any apology, they said.
They charged Jamia Hafsa had not been reconstructed despite lapse of one year after issue of orders by supreme court.. "We announce to reconstruct Jamia Hafsa on our own as per orders of SC. Classes will be conducted on day to day basis here. If our just demands are not accepted, we will set up tents and hold protest rallies across the country", they told.
PML-N and PPP had secured votes in the name of Lal Masjid, they said adding the basic rights of the people were being deprived of their fundamental rights.
Maulana Abdul Aziz be set free, Jamia Faridia be reopened and Jamia Hafsa be reconstructed in compliance of Supreme Court orders, they demanded.
The News adds, Umme Hassan, the head of razed Jamia Hafsa, is raising suicide bombers to target President Pervez Musharraf to avenge those killed during the Lal Masjid operation last year, private TV channels quoted Inspector General Police Punjab Shaukat Javed as saying on Monday.
The news channels showed a communication of the IGP to DPOs, CPOs and CCPOs advising them to beef up security in wake of the suicide threat. When contacted by Geo News, Umme Hassan denied any such plot. She smacked foul behind the statement of Punjab police chief and demanded of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to conduct a probe into the same. She said the statement might have some ulterior motives and needs to be thoroughly investigated.
Umme Hassan said they condemned the Islamabad blast and held Qul at the site of the demolished madrassa for those killed in the bomb blast Monday. Our Lahore correspondent adds: A spokesperson for the IGP, however, denied any statement of the police chief that Umme Hassan was involved in law and order problem. He added that though the government has been planning to counter terrorism and it has also been receiving intelligence reports but he said that he was not aware of any such letter in which Umme Hassan's involvement was mentioned.
He explained that IGP has not passed on any such directions to the police officers because it was damaging for police and security arrangements. In the wake of six blasts in Karachi, which spread immense terror across the Punjab province especially in the provincial metropolis, Inspector General of Police Punjab Shaukat Javed Monday directed regional police officers, DPOs, CPOs and CCPOs to beef up security by deploying additional police force at sensitive points.
The number of police officials has been increased at sensitive places including airport, railway station, Punjab Assembly building, Civil Secretariat and foreign offices. Important buildings, bus stands, five-star hotels, parking lots and residences of foreigners have been declared sensitive places. Other departments, including fire brigade, civil defence, bomb disposal squad and emergency wards of hospitals are also put on high alert.
Shaukat in a circular directed police officials to tighten security in the province especially in Lahore following a suicide blast in Islamabad and Karachi. The IG has told all regional police officers, RPOs and DPOs, CCPOs, CPOs to take special measures to cope with any untoward incident. He directed officials to deploy policemen in plainclothes at bus stops, markets, cinemas, hotels, and business and entertainment centres across the province. Policemen must have wireless sets, weapons, mobile scanners, metal detectors and explosives detectors, he said.
He stressed the need to increase patrolling in Lahore and directed officials to pay special attention to security at mosques and madrassas. Sources in intelligence agencies told this correspondent that calls of threats have been received from terrorists warning that Lahore would be the next target after Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi. The CCPO Lahore has appealed to the masses to be aware of any suspicious movement of any person and immediately inform the police and media if they found anything or person in suspicious condition.
