We won’t cut defence budget on anybody’s desire: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the defence budget of the country would not be cut on anybody’s desire. The president in an interview said that reduction in the defence budget is not included in the IMF agenda. He said that theree is a feeling in the world of the situation Pakistan is facing nowadays. President Zardari said that the Asian Development Bank has provided an aid of $500 million to Pakistan. He said that if the oil is purchased at higher price then it cannot be sold at cheaper price because the economic insecurity is increased due to this. Regarding improvement in the economic situation, the president said that we have come into the power only 60 days ago. The president said that finance minister of the PML (N) Ishaq Dar had admitted regarding the economic situation that this is the worst and it would take time for improvement. Asif Zardari said that terrorism is the child of poverty and its cure is prosperity. He said that elimination of poverty is the only cure of terrorism for a long period and all other things are temporary cures. President Zardari said that very few people know that the government is expending $200 million a year for providing electricity in the FATA but no one is paying the bills in FATA and this affects the budget.
