PPP forms People’s Business Forum

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has formed People’s Business Forum (PBF) to find out and resolve the problems of the business community. Secretary General of the PPP, Nafees Siddiqi and President PPP Karachi, Faisal Abidi, announced this on Monday at a press conference.
They said that well-known industrialist Abdul Razzak Agar has been nominated as president of the 15-member forum.
The members of the forum included industrialists, traders, exporters and importers and the forum has been assigned the task to take up the problems of the business community to the authorities concerned fro their resolution on a priority basis.
The PPP leaders said that President Asif Ali Zardari had directed the party to take the business community into confidence and establish close liaison with them. Nafees invited all the businessmen to contact the president and members of the form for the resolution of their problems.
The PPP leaders also proposed that Karachi be declared as a weapon-free city and urged all the political and religious forces to cooperate to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the future generation and for the development of the country.
They said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain and ANP leaders had already pointed out towards presence of large-scale weapons in Karachi. Expressing concern over threats of weapons in the city, Siddiqi said the PPP was also a victim of terrorism and the party believed in a peaceful political struggle
He said the PPP would request the MQM, ANP and other parties and groups to struggle to establish a weapon-free society. Faisal Abidi said that the PPP suspended more than 26 party workers for displaying arms and urged other forces to discourage this trend to save the future of the coming generation.
