Likewise, Noor Alam Khan and Ghulam Nabi of the Kurd Group will be contesting election for the positions of member of executive council of the SCBA against Shakeel Ahmad and Fazl Gul of the PLF.
Meanwhile, People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF) NWFP has said that Advocate Muhammad Zafar is the suitable candidate for the post of president of the SCBA. Speaking at a news conference here Monday, Muhammad Farooq Advocate, representative organising committee, said there were 162 registered voters in NWFP out of whom 95 were from Peshawar. The voters, he said, would cast their votes at two polling stations, Peshawar and Abbottabad.
Farooq said PLF was the leading lawyers’ forum in the country, which had offered tremendous sacrifices for the restoration of democracy, constitution and independence of the judiciary. The PLF, he said, demanded formation of a permanent Supreme Court bench in Peshawar. He said Muhammad Zafar, PLF candidate, was the only candidate who was capable of solving lawyers’ problems in an organised manner.
