Taliban Gunmen Hijack U.S. Supply Convoy in Pakistan, AP Says

Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Suspected Taliban fighters blocked part of the Khyber Pass and hijacked trucks carrying supplies for U.S.-led troops in Afghanistan, the Associated Press reported. About 13 trucks carrying Humvees and other supplies, along with their drivers, were seized in the northwest tribal region of Pakistan by a large and well-organized group of gunmen, according to the news service. The pass is a major supply route to Afghanistan, AP said. An estimated 60 fighters overpowered the convoy, Fazal Mahmood, a government official in the region, told AP. The theft was confirmed by U.S. military spokesman Major John Redfield in Afghanistan, AP said.
