Big B delighted over Indian team beating Aus
Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is delighted over the Indian cricket team victory over the World Champion Australia. “What an achievement and what a victory. What was really wonderful was to watch the spirit of the team,” Bachchan stated in his blog posted on Tuesday (November 11). He was referring to India’s convincing 2-0 victory over Australian team.
Praising the team led by Captain M S Dhoni, Bachchan said, “It is a confident, strong and fearless team. It is a team that welcomes a challenge. A team that has the guts to take on the chin and gives two back. It is a team that has removed depreciating cynicism of it from the hearts and minds of its countrymen.”
Bachchan asked the media to glorify the victory and show the visuals of outstanding performance repeatedly. “We have won. Show Sachin, Laxman and Ganguly getting their hundreds. Show Ponting’s wicket being uprooted by the wily Harbhajan or Hayden groping in the dark on the magnificence of Zaheer’s out swinger,” he asked.
“Show Ishant and Misra and Sehwag rattling the Champions. Show our moment of glory, victory and win,” he added. Excited Bachchan even asked all the creative heads and brains of the advertising and marketing world to give catchy slogan for sporting heroes.
“You have the Pappu pass ho gaya!, the ‘Pappu can’t dance!’ and ‘Kuch meetha ho jai. Build a slogan and chant for our sporting heroes that the entire nation can scream in unison at all venues where our sportsman perform and play,” he asked advertising and marketing world heads. He even gave an example how the words ‘Yes we can’ reiterated by Barack Obama ensured him a victory in US presidential elections.
However, Bachchan was quite upset over the commentary. “When the Australian bats, the comments largely remain with the calibre and expertise of the batsman and where and how he should be handling the bowling to make runs,” he stated.
“And even though we have an Indian stalwart in the box, we hardly hear how well our bowlers are bowling or if they are not, what efforts they should be making to trouble the opposition. And it’s vice versa when India bats,” he added.
