Musharraf agrees to restoration of judges

LAHORE: After weeks of negotiations between presidential aides and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, President Pervez Musharraf has agreed on the restoration of judges he sacked last year, Dawn News quoted sources as saying on Friday. According to sources, Musharraf also agreed to abolish Article 58(2b) of the Constitution, provided he was allowed to continue as head of state. They said Musharraf had conveyed his message to Zardari through a top aide and was insisting on retaining the National Security Council. Meanwhile, PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar told ARY TV that there were no contacts between Zardari and Musharraf.
