Zardari stresses formula for judges’ restoration

LAHORE: The restoration of sacked judges is a crucial issue and should be resolved by devising a formula, Aaj TV reported PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as saying on Friday. Zardari said he backed what Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif had said in Friday’s press conference. The PPP was committed to the Murree Declaration, he said, adding that he had told reporters after singing the agreement that no judges would be expelled. The PPP co-chairman said his party had been part of the lawyers’ movement and members of the PPP had run the movement. Zardari also said that he could not accept a president who was superior to the parliament. He said issues such as food, clothing, shelter and unemployment were more important to people, however, and they needed to be addressed on priority basis. Accompanied by Rehman Malik, Zardari arrived in Islamabad from Dubai late on Friday. daily times monitor
