ISLAMABAD:
Kamran Faisal, an investigation officer of the country’s premier
anti-corruption body NAB, has been found dead in his residence, News
reported Friday.
The National Accountably Bureau (NAB)
officer was assisting Investigation Officer Asgahr Khan in one of the
country's mega corruption scandals related to Rental Power Projects also
involving Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Police said the officer was living in Federal Lodges and allegedly committed suicide. However, investigations were underway.
Body
of Kamran Faisal was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Sources in the
NAB said that the officer had been under strain for being part of the
Rental Power case.
Islamabad police chief Bani Amin confirmed that the body had been found.
"We are investigating from different angles... We will establish an opinion after the autopsy," he said.
Correspondent
says Faisal hailed from Mian Chunnu in Punjab and is survived by two
daughters and a widow. NAB chairman Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari also
visited the site and expressed sorrow over the death of the NAB officer.
Meanwhile
the father of Kamran Faisal said his son was of strong will and wpuld
not committed suicide, while other family members called on the Chief
Justice to take notice.
