Kishtwar Mishap Toll Rises to 11
Kishtwar, May 02 The death tool in Kishtwar mishap, where two vehicles of Border Road Organisation (BRO) - were trapped under huge boulders on Thursday has raised to eleven as rescue team recovered four more bodies from the rubble, today morning. Official sources said that police and army, which had launched rescue operation, soon after the mishap had recovered bodies of seven labourers till last evening. “We have recovered four more bodies today”, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Riyaz Ahmed Zargar said.He said that the rescue operation ended this evening as all the bodies were recovered out of the rubble. “There was not trace of any other body as such we called off the operation this evening”, he added.The total dead tool in the mishap has gone up to eleven out of which seven persons were said to be casual labourers engaged with the GRIEF, including a driver, and four others were locals. It is pertinent to mention here that around a dozen labourers were buried alive under a huge bolder, on National Highway ? 1B in mountainous Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, Thursday morning. The labourers were traveling on two tippers which were buried under the bolder near Thoran on Kishtwar-Sinthan road. Police identified the deceased labourers as Muhammad Ashraf son of Fateh Din of Trigam, Muhammad Ayub son of Alim Bakerwal of Kathua, Muhammad Hanief son of Jamloo of Drabshalla, Bashir Ahmed son of Fateh Din of Trigam, Muhammad Shafi son of Noor Din, Noor Hussain son of Muhamadoo Wani of Mugalmaidan, Lal Din son of Alla Din of Kandwar, Mansoor son of Habib of Damber, Bashir Ahmed son of Abdul Kabir and Rajesh Sharma son of Shri Chand of Galhar, Dadiyan Daya (dirver) of MP.Government, in the meanwhile, has sanctioned an amount of Rs 1 lakh to the family of all the deceased labourers out of National calamity relief fund. “Out of the sanctioned amount Rs 10,000 was paid in cash, while rest of amount will be paid after completion of the formalities”.
