Goons Raid Kunzar School, Attack Students Srinagar, May 02, KONS: Panic gripped the Kunzar area of Tangmarg today when a gang of criminals, styled as Cobra Kings, raided a local school, bashing up scores of students and leaving two of them seriously injured. The police took immediate action and put half-a-dozen known hoodlums behind bars. Reports said that a gang of goons entered the government higher secondary school in Tarhama and began beating up students in the classes and ransacking the furniture.Several female students were said to have fainted because of fear, and the goons also misbehaved severely with the lady principal of the school. Two students of the class 10, Muhammad Altaf Dar and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, both of Tarhama, were seriously injured in the attack, and had to be taken to hospital. Hearing the screams of the students, people in the neighbourhood rushed out of their homes and chased the attackers, but the latter managed to escape. The locals then staged protests on the Tangmarg, forcing the Kunzar police to take action and go after the hoodlums.Station house officer (SHO) of the Kunzar police station, Abd-ur-Rasheed, said that the attackers were a gang of notorious, professional criminals who had styled themselves Cobra Kings. He said that the police had identified the attackers with the help of eyewitnesses, and arrested six goons, Muhammad Lateef Sheikh, Aadil Ahmad Ganai, Maroof Ahmad Mir, Irfan Ahmad Shah, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, and Shaukat Ahmad Haji. Cases under sections 323 147, 447 and 353 of the RPC have been registered against them.
