Committee on judges meets

Sunday, May 04, 2008 News Desk RAWALPINDI: Progress was made in the first meeting of a committee constituted to prepare ground for the restoration of deposed judges, claimed the committee head Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek here on Saturday, Geo News reported. He was talking to mediapersons after the meeting of the committee. The committee was constituted on Friday, a day after talks between the Pakistan People's Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Nawaz Sharif in Dubai. Naek did not respond when asked whether the committee members discussed the proposed NA resolution on judges' restoration or the much talked about constitutional package. He rather said the committee deliberated the ways to get judges restored. Online adds: The committee agreed on carrying the process of dialogue forward, and the next meeting would be held on Monday evening. Besides Naek, the meeting was attended by Chaudhry Nisar, Shahbaz Sharif, Hafeez Pirzada, Khawaja Haris, Khawaja Asif, Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, and Rehman Malik. All the members expressed their satisfaction over the progress made in the meeting.
