Bye-elections: Scrutiny of nomination papers begins today ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan will begin scrutiny of nomination papers for bye-elections on 38 seats of the national and provincial assemblies from today. Yesterday was the last day to file nomination papers for the Bye-polls -- which will see a contest for 8 National Assembly and 30 Provincial Assembly seats. The scrutiny of nominees will be finalized by the 20th of May. The objections against approval or rejection of the nominations will be filed upto May 24 and the election tribunal will settle the objections by May 31. The candidates could withdraw their nominations on June 2nd and the final list of contenders will be displayed on the same date.
