Sporadic violence on Eid in Balochistan
QUETTA: Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from Dera Bugti, Bolan, Kohlu and Jaffarabad districts on the Eid days in which five people were killed and a train and Sui gas electricity installations came under fire, official sources said.
The bloodiest incident took place in the Jaffarabad district, where five Magsi tribesmen lost their lives in a tribal clash on Wednesday. The tribesmen were returning to their home after offering Eid prayers in Goth Ghulam Rasool, when their opponents opened fire on them. The reason behind the ambush is stated to be an old enmity. The police claimed to have arrested two of the accused and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
Meanwhile, two passengers were injured when the Rawalpindi-bound Jaffar Express came under rocket fire between Panir and Peshi railway stations in the Bolan district on the Eid day.
Reports said that the attackers fired several rockets. Two rockets hit the train, which injured two passengers. The injured have been shifted to the Sibi Civil Hospital.
Following the incident, the Bolan Mail was stopped at the Mach railway station for a while and was given go-ahead after security clearance.
The other incidents were reported from Dera Bugti on Friday, where three power supply towers were blown up, suspending power supply to the Dera Bugti area. The assailants planted explosive devices close to the electricity towers between Pesh Bogi and Tali Mad areas, which damaged the towers badly.
Un fortunately, a Wapda team, which was going to the site of one of the explosions met an accident. The jeep carrying a Wapda officer, Ali Abbas Rizvi, and a lineman, whose name could not be ascertained immediately, fell into a ditch, while negotiating a sharp turn near Sui. Both the Wapda men were injured in the accident.
Moreover, two gas pipelines were blown up in Pir Koh and Kashmore road on Thursday. As a result, the gas supply to the Purification Plant has been suspended. In Kohlu, a landmine exploded in Maiwand area on Friday, when a bull cart hit it. The blast killed the ox on the spot.
