Swine Flue Third H1N1 death in city: 7-month-old girl
Mumbai reported its third H1N1 death on Tuesday — a seven-month-old girl from Byculla admitted to Noor Hospital in South-Central Mumbai. This is the second swine flu casualty reported from the hospital, the first being a 62-year-old Mumbra resident Sayeeda Dorjeewala.
According to health officials of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the girl — Modiya Mohammad Shoib Sheikh — succumbed to swine flu-related complications.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old woman who delivered a stillborn baby on Monday is still critical. “She has gained consciousness; and she recognises her father and husband. We have not informed her about her child as she is not in that condition,” her brother said.
“Doctors from Nair Hospital were called in. She is responding to treatment,” said Dr Jairaj Thanekar, executive health officer, BMC health department.
