Aitzaz says PM acted on advice: Gilani contempt

ISLAMABAD: A seven-member larger bench of the Supreme Court (SC) is hearing Prime Minister Gilani's contempt case, anewz News reported Thursday.

Defence Counsel barrister Aitzaz Ahsan contended that the Prime Minister acted on the advice of ministry in accordance with rules of business.

Upon which, Justice Nasirul Mulk remarked that on one hand there is advice and on the another there are clear court orders.

Can the prime minister not reject the advice, Justice Nasir asked, to which Aitzaz replied that he can but the safe way was to implement it.

The bench on Wednesday asked Aitzaz to conclude his arguments on preliminary issues of show cause notice in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) on Thursday before tea-break.

The bench comprising Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Athar Saeed is hearing the show cause notice served upon the Prime Minister in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation issue.
